Early-Morning Rolling Stops on Route 309 Set to Snarl Sunday Travel

Road construction

SPRINGFIELD TWP, PA — Drivers using Route 309 early Sunday should prepare for delays as PECO Energy carries out utility construction that will temporarily halt traffic in both directions through part of Springfield Township.

PECO plans to conduct work on December 7, with rolling traffic stops scheduled from midnight to 10:00 AM between Pennsylvania Avenue and Papermill Road, PennDOT said. The intermittent stoppages are expected to create backups along the busy Montgomery County corridor, particularly as morning travel increases.

The work is weather dependent.

Motorists are urged to allow additional travel time and remain alert as crews manage the rolling closures.
