PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers traveling through Center City Philadelphia should prepare for overnight delays early Friday as PennDOT crews conduct bridge repair and roadway work along Interstate 95 and Columbus Boulevard.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, periodic lane closures will occur in both directions of I-95 between the Callowhill Street and Washington Avenue interchanges while crews perform line striping.
At the same time, two left lanes will be closed on northbound Columbus Boulevard at Christian Street for line striping, traffic signal work, and sign installation.
Motorists traveling through Center City during the overnight hours should plan extra time and expect delays as traffic moves through the work zones. Drivers may want to seek alternate routes to avoid backups.
The work is part of a $56.1 million project to repair bridge structures and maintain safety along key interstate corridors.
PennDOT noted that all scheduled construction activities are weather dependent and may change if conditions require.
