Draeger to Sponsor Seven Firstival Events for Philadelphia 250th

TELFORD, PA & PHILADELPHIA, PA — Draeger Inc. announced it will sponsor seven “Firstival” events during the 2026 Philadelphia Semiquincentennial celebration marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The events are part of the “52 Weeks of Firsts” program organized by the Philadelphia Historic District 250th Committee, which highlights historic milestones associated with Philadelphia’s role in American history.

Draeger representatives will participate in the events and present brief recognitions honoring the institutions or milestones featured at each gathering, according to the company.

The events will commemorate several historical “firsts,” including the first medical school in America, the first hospital in the United States, and the first children’s hospital.

Scheduled events include the First Women’s Medical College on March 14 at Drexel University and the First Medical School in America on March 28 at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

Other events include the First Hospital in America on May 16 at Pennsylvania Hospital and the First U.S. Army on June 13 at the Museum of the American Revolution.

Additional programs are scheduled for October 17 at Arch Street Meeting House recognizing the first U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, November 14 at Houston Hall at the University of Pennsylvania recognizing the first university in America, and November 21 at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia recognizing the first children’s hospital.

Each event will include informational displays and outreach activities coordinated with healthcare leaders, civic organizations, and community partners.

“Philadelphia’s history is defined by bold ‘firsts’ that shaped healthcare and public safety in America,” said Lothar Thielen, regional CEO for North America and managing director for the United States at Draeger.

Draeger said the sponsorship reflects the company’s presence in Pennsylvania, including its North American operations based in Telford.
