Dorman Products Unveils First Aftermarket Electronic Power Steering Rack for Ram Trucks

Dorman Products

COLMAR, PA — Dorman Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: DORM) has introduced the aftermarket’s first all-new electronic power steering (EPS) rack designed for more than two million Ram pickup trucks. The launch marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing effort to provide advanced, first-to-market repair solutions for modern vehicles.

The new Dorman® OE FIX® EPS rack is the result of a multi-year research and development initiative led by the company’s engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

“Dorman’s unique capabilities allow us to design, engineer, test, and bring to market highly complex assemblies,” said Eric Luftig, Senior Vice President of Product, Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing. “Our newest EPS rack is just the most recent example of our commitment to innovation and first-to-the-aftermarket repair solutions. Everything we do is focused on keeping our customers ahead of repair challenges and evolving vehicle technology.”

The EPS rack is compatible with 2013–2024 Ram and Ram Classic pickup models. Original equipment racks for these vehicles have been prone to failure from moisture and debris intrusion in the control unit, leaving owners with limited repair options—typically high-cost OEM replacements or used and remanufactured units of inconsistent quality.

Luftig noted that Dorman’s design delivers a more durable alternative. “We find that the electronics and other critical assembly components in salvage and remanufactured racks typically see wear and usage that render them a short-term solution,” he said. “The Dorman EPS rack is an OE FIX-designated part, with improvements to the design and function that can help generate greater performance compared to not only salvage and remanufactured options, but the original manufactured part as well.”

Validated to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, the new EPS rack incorporates several key upgrades. Its electronics feature enhanced surge protection and optimized component layout to reduce heat and electrical interference. The printed circuit board is coated with a UV40-rated polyurethane layer to guard against water, salt, and debris contamination.

Installation is streamlined through proprietary Dorman software that replicates original equipment functionality and eliminates the need for dealer programming. The rack only requires calibration with common tools already available to most independent repair shops.

With this latest release, Dorman strengthens its position as a leader in advanced aftermarket engineering, offering truck owners and repair professionals a cost-effective, high-performance replacement option that extends vehicle lifespan and reinforces repair independence.
