Delaware State Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, DEDelaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Middletown man on Friday morning.

Authorities said the incident occurred on October 10, 2025, at approximately 7:19 a.m. when a Buick LaCrosse traveling north on Summit Bridge Road approached Old Summit Bridge Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the east side of the roadway and struck a telephone pole.

The driver, who was the only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information related to the investigation to contact Corporal K. Oakes at (302) 365-8483. Tips may also be submitted by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident, and authorities continue to review all circumstances surrounding the crash. All individuals mentioned in connection with ongoing investigations are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
