WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Motorists using the Blue Route should prepare for daytime lane restrictions this week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) continues resurfacing and repair work along I-476. The effort is part of a $63.7 million project designed to improve safety, extend roadway life, and enhance ride quality across nearly 17 miles of the interstate.
Through Tuesday, November 25, mobile lane closures will be in effect weekdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 (Exit 16) and Route 3 (Exit 9) interchanges for line striping operations. In addition, lane closures will remain in place overnight through Friday, November 14, on northbound I-476 approaching the Media/Swarthmore Interchange (Exit 3) for fiber repair work.
PennDOT advises drivers to expect traffic delays and to allow extra travel time through the work zones. All operations are weather dependent.
The project includes milling and overlaying the highway, repairing 49 bridges, improving stormwater systems, stabilizing slopes, and updating guiderails, signage, and sound walls. The work is fully federally funded and managed by H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack.
