LITTLE BRITAIN TWP, PA — The Ashville Road covered bridge spanning Octoraro Creek at the Chester County line is open to traffic following the completion of permanent repair work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced.
The Route 2006 bridge was closed on October 20 so crews could complete structural repairs. These followed temporary fixes made in April after the bridge was struck and damaged by a vehicle in late March. The temporary work allowed the bridge to reopen through the spring and summer, but PennDOT determined that full repairs were required to ensure its continued safety.
With the October detour now lifted, motorists once again have access to an important local connector linking Lancaster and Chester Counties.
JD Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, served as the contractor for the project.
