PHILADELPHIA, PA — Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA) announced that Michael J. Cavanagh will become Co-Chief Executive Officer alongside Brian L. Roberts, effective January 2026. Roberts will continue to serve as Chairman and Co-CEO, and Cavanagh will join the company’s Board of Directors at that time.
Cavanagh, who currently serves as President, joined Comcast in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer after more than two decades in financial services. He previously held senior roles at JPMorgan Chase, including Co-CEO of its Corporate & Investment Bank and six years as Chief Financial Officer, where he played a key role in helping the bank navigate the 2008 financial crisis.
“Since joining Comcast a decade ago, Mike has proven himself to be a trusted and collaborative leader,” said Roberts. “He is the ideal person to help lead Comcast as we manage the pivot we are making to drive growth across the company.”
Cavanagh described his promotion as both an honor and an opportunity. “Comcast is a special company with exceptional businesses and an incredible team,” he said. “It is an honor to work with Brian and the entire Comcast NBCUniversal leadership team during this exciting and transformative time in our industry.”
The appointment formalizes Cavanagh’s growing influence within Comcast as the company continues to evolve amid shifting media, broadband, and technology markets. His partnership with Roberts underscores a focus on continuity and strategic balance between Comcast’s traditional cable operations and its expanding digital and streaming platforms.
