TREVOSE, PA — Comcast said the first homes and businesses in Bethlehem Township and Emmaus are now connected to its Xfinity high-speed, symmetrical Internet service as part of a network expansion that will ultimately reach more than 16,600 locations in the two communities.
The company said the expansion is part of a broader investment in the Lehigh Valley, including completed work in Coopersburg and Upper Saucon and planned projects in Freemansburg, Palmer, Forks, Easton and Lower Saucon.
Residents can check service availability and construction updates by visiting Xfinity.com/mytown and entering their address, Comcast said.
State Sen. Lisa Boscola, D-18th District, said the expansion increases consumer choice in the region. “This investment is a huge win for our community as Comcast’s Xfinity brings choice and competition to our residents and business owners,” Boscola said.
Dan Bonelli, Comcast regional senior vice president, said the company has begun activating customers in the newly served areas. “We are eager to offer our advanced network to thousands of new Northampton and Lehigh County residents and businesses,” Bonelli said.
Comcast said its residential services in the area include Xfinity Internet, mobile, streaming television, voice and home security. The company also provides services to businesses through Comcast Business, including broadband, networking and mobile offerings.
Comcast said the expansion will give Bethlehem Township and Emmaus access to the same network available to nearly 65 million homes and businesses nationwide.
In addition to network construction, the company said it continues to support digital access initiatives, including its Internet Essentials program, which provides discounted broadband service and low-cost computers to eligible households.
