Comcast Business Report Warns of Rising AI-Powered Cyber Threats

Comcast Business

PHILADELPHIA, PAComcast Business has released its 2025 Cybersecurity Threat Report, analyzing 34.6 billion cybersecurity events recorded between June 2024 and May 2025. Now in its third year, the report provides a detailed look at the escalating scale and sophistication of global cyberattacks and outlines strategies for businesses to strengthen their defenses.

The findings reveal a dramatic increase in stealthy, AI-driven threats that exploit human behavior as much as technology. Comcast Business urges organizations to treat cybersecurity as a core business risk, not just an IT function.

“Cybersecurity is no longer just a technology issue – it’s a business imperative,” said Noopur Davis, Chief Information Security and Product Privacy Officer at Comcast Corporation. “Our 2025 Threat Report underscores the urgency for businesses to rethink risk, invest in multi-layered, adaptive defenses, and put people at the center of their security strategy.”

Among the 34.6 billion events analyzed, the report identified 4.7 billion phishing attempts exploiting human error, 9.7 billion drive-by compromise attacks requiring no user action, and 44,000 DDoS incidents using short bursts and carpet-bombing techniques. Another 19.5 billion “resource development” events showed cybercriminals investing heavily in new attack infrastructure.

A key trend is the growing use of “living off the land” tactics, in which attackers use legitimate software tools to move laterally and avoid detection—making malicious activity harder to distinguish from normal operations.

The report also introduces “The Human Equation,” a new framework emphasizing the dual challenge facing organizations: security teams stretched thin by escalating threats, and employees whose everyday behaviors can expose vulnerabilities.

“We’re seeing a shift from perimeter-based security to people-centric resilience,” Davis said. “Comcast Business is uniquely positioned to support both sides of the equation—with secure networking, 24/7 managed detection and response, and a deep understanding of the human factors that shape cyber risk.”
