Clean Earth Expands PFAS Treatment Capabilities with New Foam Fractionation Technology

Enviri Corporation

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Clean Earth, a division of Enviri Corporation (NYSE: NVRI), announced the installation and commissioning of a surface-activated foam fractionation unit at its Detroit, Michigan facility, advancing its ability to remove per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from contaminated water streams.

The newly integrated system is designed to extract surface-active compounds like PFAS from aqueous materials, separating them from incoming effluent before the facility’s broader treatment processes complete final polishing steps. The treated water meets discharge standards under existing environmental permits.

“PFAS contamination is one of the most urgent environmental challenges facing our world today, and the integration of this foam fractionation unit reflects our commitment to innovation and leadership in sustainable remediation,” said Jeff Beswick, President of Clean Earth. “As PFAS regulations continue to evolve, our advanced technologies position us at the forefront of the industry — helping customers not only meet compliance standards but also proactively manage environmental impact and long-term risk.”

The technology represents a major step in Clean Earth’s PFAS remediation strategy, substantially reducing the volume of contaminated water that requires downstream treatment. By coupling foam fractionation with existing systems, the company can handle higher concentrations of PFAS, improve efficiency, and lower operational costs for clients.

This expansion strengthens Clean Earth’s portfolio of water treatment and remediation services as demand grows for sustainable solutions that address emerging contaminants. The company continues to invest in PFAS-related research and development, as well as in new and existing treatment technologies, to support regulatory compliance and long-term environmental stewardship.
