PHILADELPHIA, PA — Spring doesn’t just arrive in Chestnut Hill—it takes over. On Sunday, May 3, the neighborhood’s cobblestone main street will transform into a lively, open-air celebration of creativity, color, and community as the annual Home + Garden Festival returns to Germantown Avenue.
From vibrant floral displays to handcrafted art and locally inspired home décor, the festival brings together more than 250 vendors and thousands of visitors for a full day that captures the charm and energy of Philadelphia’s Garden District. Running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the event offers something for everyone—whether you’re refreshing your living space, hunting for one-of-a-kind finds, or simply enjoying a spring day outdoors.
At its heart, the festival is a celebration of the small businesses, artists, and makers that define Chestnut Hill. “The Home + Garden Festival really captures what Chestnut Hill does best: bringing people together in a way that feels authentic to the neighborhood,” said Courtney O’Neill, Executive Director of the Chestnut Hill Business District. “It’s a celebration of the artists, designers, and small businesses that contribute to Chestnut Hill’s identity.”
A Full Day of Food, Music, and Creativity
Beyond the rows of vendors, the festival unfolds into a series of immersive experiences across the neighborhood.
At Maker’s Village, visitors can watch artisans at work, offering a behind-the-scenes look at craftsmanship—from design techniques to hands-on demonstrations.
Food lovers will find plenty to explore, with offerings from local favorites and newcomers alike. Lovat Square and The Blue Warbler bring fresh energy to the neighborhood’s dining scene, while a lineup of food trucks serves everything from plant-based dishes to barbecue and Korean-Mexican fusion.
Live entertainment keeps the energy high throughout the day. Philadelphia-based bands The Dukes of Destiny and The Walk-Ins will perform on the main stage, while Stagecrafters Theater presents a special lineup of family-friendly, history-themed performances celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
Visitors can also stumble upon unique neighborhood traditions, from outdoor cookouts at McNally’s Tavern to a community book sale hosted by the Friends of the Chestnut Hill Library.
Explore the Shops That Define Chestnut Hill
The festival seamlessly blends into Chestnut Hill’s everyday appeal. With more than 80 specialty shops and restaurants lining Germantown Avenue, visitors are encouraged to step inside and explore longstanding local institutions and boutique retailers.
From historic businesses like Robertson’s Flowers and Kilian Hardware to galleries, home design studios, and garden centers, the district offers a curated shopping experience that extends well beyond the festival itself.
