Chemours Highlights Emissions Cuts, Sustainable Growth in 2024 Report

WILMINGTON, DEThe Chemours Company (NYSE: CC) has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, detailing major progress toward environmental and social responsibility goals while advancing its long-term growth strategy, Pathway to Thrive.

The report, titled Trusted Chemistry, underscores Chemours’ commitment to using science and innovation to address global challenges while reducing its environmental footprint. Company leaders framed the report as both a progress update and a roadmap for future growth.

Key achievements include a 76 percent reduction in fluorinated organic chemical process emissions since 2018, moving Chemours closer to its goal of a 99 percent cut by 2030. The company also reported a 52 percent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, keeping it on track to meet its 60 percent reduction target by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Chemours said it has reached its 2030 target of deriving half of its revenue from products aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, accomplishing the milestone six years ahead of schedule. In addition, a majority of its suppliers have improved sustainability performance, and the company has invested $25 million toward a $50 million community pledge for STEM education, safety programs, and environmental initiatives.

The report also highlighted innovations in sustainable technologies, including liquid cooling solutions for data centers that can reduce energy use by up to 90 percent, and advanced binders for electric vehicle batteries that lower manufacturing footprints and energy consumption while eliminating hazardous solvents.

Chemours also completed its first Double Materiality Assessment, a step to align its sustainability goals with stakeholder priorities and evolving global reporting standards.

The company said these efforts position it to meet rising demand in industries such as electric vehicles, advanced electronics, and renewable energy while maintaining a focus on responsible manufacturing and community impact.
