COLMAR, PA — Celebrity chef and restaurateur Peter Chang officially opened his newest restaurant, Mama Chang, in Colmar on Friday, October 10, 2025, with a grand opening celebration that doubled as a fundraiser for Manna on Main, a local nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger in the North Penn region.
The event, held from 4 to 6 p.m. at 118 Bethlehem Pike, featured a traditional lion dance, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The Greater Montco Chamber of Commerce, Manna on Main officials, and community members joined Chang and his family for the occasion.
Named in honor of the women who influenced his life—including his wife, daughter, and 84-year-old mother—Mama Chang showcases home-style Hunan, Hubei, and Sichuan dishes passed down through generations of the Chang family. All three women attended the grand opening.
The 9,700-square-foot restaurant offers seating for 280 guests across two dining rooms, along with a private event space designed for gatherings and celebrations.
Chang, a James Beard Award finalist in 2016 and semifinalist for Outstanding Chef in 2022, is regarded as one of America’s top Chinese chefs. Throughout his career, he has cooked for presidents and ambassadors and earned national acclaim for his authentic regional Chinese cuisine.
Proceeds from the grand opening event benefited Manna on Main, supporting its mission to fight hunger and provide food, education, and community outreach programs throughout Montgomery County.
