Carpenter Technology Appoints Brian Malloy as CEO

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) said its board of directors has appointed Brian Malloy as chief executive officer effective July 1, 2026, succeeding Tony Thene, who will remain as executive chairman.

Malloy currently serves as president and chief operating officer. Thene, who has been chairman and CEO, will continue as executive chairman of the board, focusing on strategy, stakeholder relationships and board leadership, the company announced.

“The strength of this Company is highlighted by having such a strong internal candidate to become CEO,” Thene said in a statement. He described Malloy as “a proven leader with deep operational expertise and a strong track record of delivering results.”

Malloy said he was “honored to be named the next CEO” and credited Thene’s leadership with reshaping the company and strengthening its market position.

Carpenter Technology is a manufacturer of specialty alloys and materials serving aerospace, defense, energy and other high-value markets.

Malloy has served as chief operating officer since 2023. During his 10 years with the company, he has held roles including senior vice president and group president of Specialty Alloys Operations and Performance Engineered Products, and chief commercial officer.

Before joining Carpenter, Malloy was senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Ametek’s Global Precision Tubes business. He also held leadership roles at Alcoa Inc., including vice president of industrial gas turbines within its power and propulsion business unit, now part of Howmet Aerospace.

“The Board is proud of the strength and depth of our management team,” said Steve Ward, lead independent director. He said Malloy’s experience and execution record position him to advance the company’s long-term strategy, while Thene’s transition ensures continuity.
