Bridge Work to Cause Lane Closures on U.S. 1 (City Avenue) Near St. Joseph’s University

Lane restrictions

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced scheduled lane closures on U.S. 1 (City Avenue) in connection with ongoing construction of the St. Joseph’s University pedestrian bridge.

From Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, A.P. Construction, Inc. will carry out bridge construction requiring daytime lane closures in both directions of U.S. 1 between 59th Street and Lapsley Lane. The lane restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily.

The work zone spans areas within both Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County. According to PennDOT, motorists should plan for potential delays and allow extra travel time, as significant congestion is expected. The construction schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
