MINNEAPOLIS, MN & CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Best Buy and IKEA U.S. are joining forces this fall to launch a first-of-its-kind in-store collaboration, merging modern technology with home design in a bid to offer customers a more integrated shopping experience for kitchens and laundry spaces.
The partnership marks the first time IKEA products and services will be available through another U.S. retailer. The initiative will debut in 10 Best Buy locations across Florida and Texas, where each store will feature a dedicated 1,000-square-foot IKEA-branded section. These areas will offer customers the opportunity to plan and visualize kitchen and laundry room layouts that pair IKEA’s affordable furnishings with Best Buy’s top-tier appliances and technology.
The in-store setups are intended to offer a hands-on, collaborative experience. IKEA team members will be on-site to assist with design and furnishing consultations, while Best Buy’s sales associates—known as “blue shirts”—will guide customers on appliance selection and technology integration.
“This partnership between IKEA and Best Buy is about making great design and functionality more accessible for the many,” said Rob Olson, COO of IKEA U.S. “By bringing together our home furnishing expertise, products, and services with Best Buy’s leadership in appliances and technology, we’re creating a one-stop destination.”
Patrick McGinnis, Chief Merchandising Officer at Best Buy, highlighted the goal of helping customers make informed, lifestyle-focused decisions. “With this partnership, we get to combine technology and design and show shoppers what’s truly possible in their home like never before,” he said.
The shop-in-shop pilot aims to cater to customers seeking both inspiration and efficiency. It reflects a broader trend in retail where collaboration and experiential shopping are becoming key strategies for meeting evolving consumer expectations.
Stores participating in the pilot program include Best Buy locations in Boynton Beach, Daytona Beach, Lakeland, Melbourne, and Waterford Lakes, Florida, as well as Alamo Ranch, Hulen, Humble, Mesquite, and South Austin, Texas.
If successful, the initiative could pave the way for expanded partnerships or a broader rollout across other markets.
