DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — One of Delaware County’s most popular winter traditions is gearing up for another blockbuster season. The Energy Transfer Veterans Memorial Rink — the award-winning ice attraction that has drawn thousands since its debut in 2021 — brings with it a flurry of family festivities, community pride, and expanded support for local veterans.

Flight On Ice, the company behind the outdoor winter experience, announced that the rink will once again take its place at 4901 West Chester Pike in Edgmont, next to the Shoppes at Marville. The season will run through February 1, 2026, offering more than two months of skating, entertainment, and holiday programming that have made the rink a regional favorite. The venue, voted “Best Fun Day Family Outing” four years running by Delaware County Daily Times readers, has grown into one of the county’s defining seasonal attractions.

Energy Transfer, the title sponsor, will contribute another $75,000 to the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association this year, bringing its total support to more than $225,000 since the rink’s opening. The funds help maintain the nearby memorial site and support programs serving local veterans.

“We are thrilled to announce that the Energy Transfer Veterans Memorial Rink will once again be open for skating this season,” said Joe McGinn, Vice President of Public Affairs at Energy Transfer. “Supporting both the rink and the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association is a natural fit. We hope our generosity inspires others to join us in keeping this amazing tradition alive.”

Since opening four years ago, the rink has become a winter anchor for Delco’s tourism economy and community culture. Visitors can expect a fully upgraded winter village this season, complete with heated tents, fire pits for roasting s’mores, open-air gazebos, and a kids zone with moon bounces provided by One Stop Party Shop. Food offerings will include nachos, pretzels, popcorn, candy, coffee, and hot chocolate. A large LED video display will showcase event programming and holiday content throughout the season.

Steve Byrne, Executive Director of Visit Delco, said the rink has become a vital part of the county’s winter identity. “Flight On Ice not only delivers holiday magic but also drives meaningful economic activity to local restaurants, shops, and attractions,” Byrne said. “It highlights what makes Delaware County such a special destination — authentic community, local pride, and unforgettable memories.”

Flight On Ice President Jon Schaffer said this year’s season will include longtime favorites and new surprises. “When we started this venture back in 2021, we couldn’t have imagined the popularity we’ve gained,” Schaffer said. “We’re excited for another season and are in discussions to keep our rink in Delco for many years to come.”

In addition to public skate sessions, the rink offers private event rentals that have surged in popularity for birthdays, corporate outings, school groups, fundraisers, and holiday parties. Packages include private ice time for up to 250 guests, skates, heated tents, food and beverage options, s’mores kits, DJs, moon bounces, photo booths, and more. Prime dates and weekend slots are expected to fill quickly.

The rink’s regular schedule — featuring Thursday through Sunday public sessions during most of December and January — also includes special holiday hours running from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day.

Beyond the lights and festivities, organizers emphasize that the rink remains rooted in service. A portion of each season’s proceeds helps support the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association’s mission to honor local veterans and educate the community about their sacrifices.
