Bancorp Taps Veteran Finance Leader to Steer Its Next Phase of Growth

WILMINGTON, DEThe Bancorp, Inc. has appointed Dominic C. Canuso as its new chief financial officer, bringing in a seasoned executive with deep experience in financial strategy, organizational transformation, and growth management. The move comes as the company continues to scale its banking-as-a-service model and broaden its position across fintech partnerships.

CEO Damian Kozlowski said Canuso’s background aligns with The Bancorp’s long-term strategic priorities, emphasizing his history of guiding complex financial institutions through expansion. Kozlowski noted that the hire strengthens the company’s executive bench at a time when disciplined capital management and operational efficiency are increasingly important in the banking sector.

Canuso joins The Bancorp with more than 25 years in financial services, most recently serving as CFO at Capital Bank. Prior to that, he spent seven years as chief financial officer at WSFS Bank, where he oversaw corporate finance, balance-sheet strategy, and large-scale integration efforts. His earlier career includes leadership roles at Barclays Bank Delaware and Advanta Bank Corporation.

In his statement, Canuso said he looks forward to building on The Bancorp’s momentum, citing the company’s reputation for innovation and strong financial foundations. He said the organization is well positioned to deliver long-term value for clients, partners, and shareholders.

Canuso holds both an Executive MBA and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Villanova University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He also serves on the Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review Council and is Board Chair Elect for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Delaware.
