Axalta Reports Sharp Safety Gains and Emissions Cuts in New Sustainability Update

PHILADELPHIA, PAAxalta Coating Systems, Ltd. (NYSE: AXTA) released its 2023–2024 Sustainability Report, detailing progress on workplace safety, emissions reduction, and product innovation as the coatings maker continues to weave sustainability into its core business strategy.

The report outlines how Axalta is aligning environmental, social, and governance priorities with what it calls “A Plan,” the company’s long-term operating strategy. Management said the approach is intended to deliver performance and value to customers while strengthening operational discipline and corporate responsibility.

Among the most notable results, Axalta reported an approximately 49 percent reduction in its Total Recordable Incident Rate from 2022 to 2024, reflecting what the company described as significant improvement in employee safety performance across its operations.

The report also highlighted a 9 percent reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions at manufacturing facilities, alongside continued investment in technologies designed to improve efficiency and durability for customers. These include the Fast Cure Low Energy Collision Repair Paint System, Axalta NextJet™, and Alesta® powder coatings.

Axalta said it refreshed its sustainability goals during the reporting period to better align with strategic priorities and focus on material issues most relevant to its business and stakeholders. The company’s efforts were reflected in external assessments, including an AA rating from MSCI and a top-tier score of 1 from ISS Governance QualityScore as of November 1, 2025.

The report also noted recognition for innovation, with Axalta receiving six Edison Awards, three BIG Innovation Awards, and two R&D 100 Awards over the reporting period.

Axalta said its sustainability strategy is closely tied to product performance, emphasizing coatings that enhance durability, reduce energy use, and improve operational efficiency. The company positioned the report as a benchmark of progress rather than an endpoint, signaling continued focus on safety, innovation, and environmental performance in the years ahead.
