RADNOR, PA — Avantor, Inc. (NYSE: AVTR) has appointed Emmanuel Ligner as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 18. Ligner will take over from Michael Stubblefield, who previously announced his intention to step down from the role.
With more than three decades of experience in the life sciences sector, Ligner brings a proven track record in global leadership, commercial expansion, and operational execution. His career includes senior roles at GE Life Sciences and Danaher Corporation, where he notably spearheaded the launch and development of Cytiva, transforming it into a major standalone brand following Danaher’s acquisition of GE’s biopharma business.
Most recently, Ligner served as CEO of Cerba HealthCare, a diagnostics and clinical laboratory group. His leadership has consistently focused on driving innovation, integrating complex global operations, and building high-performing teams across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Avantor’s Board of Directors expressed confidence in Ligner’s ability to lead the company’s next chapter, emphasizing his strong background in life sciences and deep understanding of global markets.
The leadership transition comes as Avantor prepares to report its second-quarter 2025 financial results. The company will hold a conference call on Friday, August 1, at 8:00 a.m. ET to discuss its performance.
Ligner holds a master’s degree in commerce from Université de Savoie in France and a bachelor’s degree in marketing from University College of Wales in the U.K. He began his career in Japan with Otsuka Pharmaceuticals before joining Abbott Japan and later advancing through executive roles across GE and Danaher.
