DALLAS, TX & CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — AT&T has joined forces with ActiveProtective and JACS Solutions to introduce a new connected health solution aimed at improving safety and peace of mind for at-risk older adults and their caregivers.
The collaboration centers on a new Connectivity Device packaged with the Tango Belt, a wearable medical device designed to monitor motion and deploy an inflatable airbag during potential hip-impacting falls. The Connectivity Device enables reliable wireless broadband communication, automatic caregiver alerts when a fall is detected, and secure electronic data transfer without requiring Wi-Fi.
To support the system, AT&T’s Connected Healthcare team developed and deployed secure connectivity assets that allow real-time digital monitoring and collaboration between patients, caregivers, and clinicians. The LTE-enabled Connectivity Device, developed by JACS Solutions, integrates directly with the Tango Belt to ensure uninterrupted data transmission and timely notifications even when Wi-Fi is unstable or unavailable.
“Knowing your loved one is safe at home gives one peace of mind,” said Lee Wagner, assistant vice president of Connected Solutions at AT&T. He said the company’s secure and reliable network infrastructure is designed to enhance patient care through connected health technologies.
The Tango Belt relies on AT&T’s network to transmit critical information to caregivers, enabling faster interventions and helping reduce the risk of serious injury from falls, particularly hip fractures, which remain a leading cause of hospitalization among older adults.
“This mission is personal for us because we have seen the impact of hip fractures firsthand,” said Wamis Singhatat, chief executive officer of ActiveProtective. He said the partnership allows the Tango Belt to remain connected across a wide range of environments, supporting independence and dignity for older adults.
Dr. Chang Gang Zhang, vice president of technology for JACS Solutions, said the collaboration delivers a reliable broadband connectivity solution that can be critical in healthcare settings. He said the combined strengths of the three companies elevate the standard of care and improve patient outcomes for vulnerable populations.
The Tango Belt is now available to senior living communities seeking Wi-Fi-independent fall detection and caregiver notification capabilities. ActiveProtective said it is engaging senior living operators, healthcare systems, and providers, particularly those operating under value-based care models, and offers personalized onboarding and support with each order.
