Atalan–Bon Secours Deal Targets Clinician Burnout and Patient Care Gaps

Business News

PHILADELPHIA, PAAtalan has entered a strategic partnership with Accrete Health Partners, the venture arm of Bon Secours Mercy Health, aiming to tackle two of healthcare’s most persistent challenges: clinician retention and patient experience.

The partnership centers on accelerating development of Atalan PX, a new platform module designed to connect workforce engagement data with patient experience insights. By unifying those data streams, the companies say health system leaders can better identify operational stress points, respond earlier to emerging issues, and improve both staff stability and care outcomes.

Accrete Health Partners, which supports innovation initiatives across Bon Secours Mercy Health, will work with Atalan through its Acceleration Funds to co-develop the technology alongside clinical and operational leaders. Cyril Philip, vice president of digital ventures at Bon Secours Mercy Health, said the model allows the system to move quickly with high-performing technology partners and scale solutions that show measurable impact.

Atalan PX builds on the company’s existing performance intelligence platform by integrating patient experience metrics with workforce-related data. The system applies artificial intelligence to detect patterns across teams and care settings, helping frontline leaders translate fragmented information into coordinated action.

Atalan Chief Executive Officer and founder Tiffany Chan said the partnership reflects a shared view that clinician experience and patient outcomes are tightly linked. She said the goal is to create a new model for connected performance intelligence that supports sustainable care delivery.

The collaboration follows a successful pilot of Atalan’s CRI platform within a Bon Secours Mercy Health regional market. Within six months, the health system reported early gains that led to expansion across additional markets and clinical teams.

Tim Watson, vice president of physician recruitment at Bon Secours Mercy Health, said tools that clarify what drives clinician engagement are critical as health systems compete for talent and seek to reduce burnout. He said better insight into the clinician experience supports programs designed to retain staff and strengthen long-term performance.

The partnership highlights a growing trend among large health systems to invest in technology that aligns workforce strategy with patient experience, as staffing pressures and care quality remain central to healthcare performance.
