Ashland Announces CFO Transition and Interim Leadership Appointments

Ashland

WILMINGTON, DE — Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH) has announced that Kevin Willis, senior vice president and chief financial officer, will leave the company on May 16, 2025, to pursue another opportunity. Willis, who joined Ashland in 1987 as an associate auditor, has held several key roles in accounting, finance, and business services over an impressive 38-year career. The company clarified that his departure is unrelated to any disagreements regarding financial reporting or operations.

Ashland’s board has appointed William C. Whitaker as interim chief financial officer. Whitaker, 36, currently serves as vice president, finance, and director of investor relations, roles he has held since January 2024. Since joining Ashland in 2015, he has been instrumental in corporate development, treasury, and financial planning. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) with a finance degree from Ohio State University, Whitaker brings substantial expertise to the interim role.

Additionally, Samuel A. Richardson has been named vice president, controller, and principal accounting officer. Richardson, 46, has served as the company’s controller since January 2020 and has over a decade of experience in senior accounting roles at Ashland. A certified public accountant, Richardson holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Computer Information Systems from West Liberty University.

“I want to thank Kevin for his many years of service and numerous contributions to Ashland,” said Guillermo Novo, chair and chief executive officer. “I am confident we have a strong and capable team to ensure a smooth and seamless transition, and we are committed to maintaining stability and continuing to achieve our goals.”

These leadership changes come as Ashland remains focused on long-term growth and strategic objectives.
