Aramark Student Nutrition Blends AI, Feedback, and Health Goals to Reshape School Dining

Aramark

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Aramark Student Nutrition is bringing artificial intelligence, student input, and a proactive health strategy to the forefront of school meals for the 2025–2026 academic year. With a rapidly changing nutrition landscape and expanding free meal programs in several states, the company is positioning itself as a flexible and forward-thinking partner for school districts nationwide.

This year, Aramark analyzed responses from 50,000 student surveys to guide new menu innovations. That feedback—combined with insights from dietitians and a proprietary AI tool called Culinary Co-Pilot—is shaping a revamped menu lineup featuring over 250 new recipes, limited-time offers, and breakfast upgrades.

“Our blend of human insight and smart technology is what sets Aramark apart,” said Barbara Flanagan, President and CEO of Aramark Student Nutrition.

The company’s approach isn’t limited to taste. Aramark is prioritizing meals with less sugar and sodium, more whole grains, and clear nutrition messaging—all while staying ahead of evolving USDA guidelines. In 2025, more than 20 school districts partnered with Aramark received USDA Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Awards.

Brand partnerships are also adding to the variety, such as a new whole grain cereal bowl from General Mills, designed for easy student snacking.

Beyond the cafeteria, Aramark is expanding communication and outreach through its “Food for Thought” newsletter, parent-focused tastings, and the ACE Mascot Program for younger students, which promotes healthy habits through engaging, age-appropriate lessons.

With food allergies affecting roughly one in 13 children, food safety remains a priority. All food service managers must now complete the AllerTrain® K12 certification to ensure safe practices for students with dietary restrictions.

By weaving together data, innovation, and community connection, Aramark aims to deliver more than meals—it’s crafting a holistic dining experience for the next generation.
