DOYLESTOWN, PA — After more than three decades of serving patients and building a trusted community practice, Dr. Terry Rakowsky is handing the reins of his Doylestown dental office to a new owner, Dr. Sean Brown, marking the end of one legacy and the beginning of another.

Dr. Rakowsky, a local fixture for over 35 years, has long been known not only for his dental expertise but for his deep community ties. A former Penn State athlete who earned five varsity letters in football and baseball, Rakowsky went on to be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and spent two decades coaching high school basketball. Yet, his most lasting impact may be the thousands of smiles he restored in his practice.

As he prepares to relocate to Colorado to support his daughter following the loss of her husband, Rakowsky said ensuring the continuity of care for his patients was a top priority. After interviewing several candidates, he selected Dr. Brown to carry on his philosophy of compassionate, patient-centered dentistry.

Dr. Brown, who has already begun seeing patients, expressed his excitement about continuing Rakowsky’s work. “My general philosophy is to be able to provide the vast majority of services to the patients in my care while in the comfort of the office and staff that they already know,” he said.

A second-generation dentist, Dr. Brown grew up surrounded by dentistry—his parents both practiced—and pursued his degree at the University of Buffalo, followed by an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in South Carolina. He and his wife, familiar with Doylestown through family visits, decided it was the perfect community to raise their family and put down roots.

While the ownership may be changing, the team remains the same. Rakowsky’s longtime staff will stay on, ensuring patients continue to receive the same friendly, familiar experience that defined the practice for decades.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to meet Doylestown patients and look forward to getting to know them on a more personal level,” Dr. Brown said.
