FORT WASHINGTON, PA — ACTS Retirement-Life Communities Inc. has named President Karen I. Christiansen as its next chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2027, as part of a planned leadership transition.
Christiansen will succeed Gerald T. Grant, who plans to retire after nearly 40 years with the organization and will remain CEO through December 31, 2026.
Christiansen joined Acts in 1996 and has held several leadership roles, including executive vice president and chief financial officer, before being named president in 2020. She was elected to the board of directors in 2023 and will become the organization’s sixth CEO.
Susan Allmond, chair of the board, said the selection reflects continuity in leadership and strategy. “Karen is an exceptional leader who understands our organization at every level and has played a key role in shaping the organization’s financial strength, operational performance, and long-term strategy,” she said.
Christiansen said she plans to build on the organization’s existing foundation. “I look forward to building on that legacy, supporting our communities, our team members, and the residents we are privileged to serve each day,” she said.
Acts Retirement-Life Communities operates continuing care retirement communities in nine states and serves more than 11,000 residents.
