ActiveProtective Launches FDA-Authorized Tango Belt, an Airbag Device to Reduce Hip Fractures

FDA

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — ActiveProtective® has announced the commercial availability of its Tango® Belt, an FDA-authorized breakthrough medical device designed to protect older adults from fall-related hip fractures. The belt uses motion-sensing technology to detect when a serious fall is occurring and deploys an airbag within milliseconds to cushion the hips and reduce injury.

The prescription-only device is built for comfort and daily wear, aiming to give older adults greater confidence and independence. Paired with its companion mobile app, the Tango Belt also provides automatic fall notifications, offering an added layer of reassurance for families and caregivers.

In a multicenter premarket clinical study, the Tango Belt demonstrated significant results. Used in combination with standard fall-prevention measures, the device reduced hip fractures by 91% in high-risk older adults compared with the standard of care alone.

“This launch marks a pivotal advancement for those seeking evidence-based solutions that go beyond fall prevention to actively reduce fall injuries in older adults,” said Wamis Singhatat, CEO of ActiveProtective. “We’re working tirelessly to ensure wider availability in the coming months.”

ActiveProtective is initially targeting senior living operators, healthcare systems, and providers—particularly those working within value-based care models that emphasize proactive risk management. Each order includes onboarding and support to ensure wearers maximize the benefits of the device.
