KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Washington Memorial Chapel’s Veterans Commission has announced that it will be honoring the sacrifices of America’s fallen heroes during its annual Memorial Day Remembrance Service on Monday, May 26. This special commemoration will begin with a solemnChoral Matins, with a key note speech by Veteran Second Lieutenant U.S. Air Force Frank Spano, followed by Father’s Tommy’s Revolutionary BBQ Lunch, and then culminate with the Chapel’s Yearly Memorial Day Carillon Concert featuring patriotic selections and music by American composers played by Chapel Carillonneur Doug Gefvert.
The Choral Matins, which will be held inside the Chapel at 11 AM, will honor and pay respect to the brave men and women who valiantly lost their lives while serving in the U.S. military by weaving together prayers of healing and hope with the stirring music of the Chapel’s choir. This somber yet uplifting service offers a deeply moving experience for all who gather to reflect, mourn, and pay tribute to our nation’s fallen heroes.
During the service, special guest speaker Spano will lend his perspective into military life as he regales attendees with fascinating accounts from his time serving as a former Air Force Special Agent with the elite Antiterrorism Specialty Team.
“We are honored to have Veteran Second Lieutenant Spano join us for our Memorial Day Remembrance Service,” said Father Tommy A. Thompson, VII Rector, Washington Memorial Chapel. “Not only is he a testament to what a hero is and a pillar of our community but he is also a parishioner, which I think will really resonate with our guests.”
Following the Choral Matins, Father Tommy will be hosting his Revolutionary BBQ Lunch in the Bishop White Courtyard on the Chapel’s grounds at 12 PM. The event is free and open to the public however, a $10 donation is suggested to support the event. RSVP using the link below:
