HOCKESSIN, DE — A Pennsylvania man died Tuesday afternoon after a head-on crash involving two vehicles on Lancaster Pike, according to Delaware State Police.
State police said the crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. on March 10 on Lancaster Pike south of McGovern Road.
According to investigators, a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound while a Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on the same roadway.
Police reported that, for reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai crossed over the double yellow centerline and collided head-on with the Chevrolet.
Authorities said the Hyundai driver, a 65-year-old man from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 79-year-old man from Hockessin, Delaware, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that police described as non-life-threatening.
State police reported the roadway remained closed for approximately three hours while troopers investigated the scene and cleared the crash.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
