$26.2M Road Overhaul Promises Safer, Smoother Rides in Montgomery County!

Traffic Advisory

LOWER PROVIDENCE TWP, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advancing construction efforts on a $26.2 million project aimed at improving travel and safety at the Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike Intersection in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County.

From Monday, May 19, through Friday, September 26, lane closures will be in place on Ridge Pike between Pechins Mill Road and Crosskeys Road, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to accommodate utility construction. Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and allow extra time when traveling in the area. All work is weather dependent.

The project includes the relocation of the Ridge Pike and Germantown Pike Intersection approximately 1,300 feet east of the current location, along with the installation of a new signalized intersection. A Germantown Pike connector road will be constructed to link Ridge Pike with Germantown Pike and extend southwest to Pechins Mill Road.

Key design elements include the addition of a roundabout at the northern end of the new connector road, as well as the extension of River Road to form a connection to Germantown Pike through the roundabout. Other improvements involve widening Ridge Pike, introducing new turn lanes at the intersection, and implementing stormwater drainage upgrades to enhance safety and efficiency.

Allan Myers, Inc., based in Worcester, PA, is serving as the general contractor for the project, which is being financed entirely with federal funds. PennDOT expects the upgrades to significantly improve traffic flow and safety within this vital area of Montgomery County.
