ANNVILLE, PA — Pennsylvania officials are encouraging residents to purchase women veterans license plates during Women’s History Month as a way to recognize the service of female veterans and support programs that assist more than 62,000 women veterans living across the Commonwealth.

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs said the plates serve both as a public tribute to women who served in the armed forces and as a funding source for services that assist veterans in need.
License Plates Support Veterans Assistance
Revenue from special fund license plates contributes directly to the Pennsylvania Veterans’ Trust Fund.
The fund provides grants to charitable organizations, veterans service groups, and county veterans affairs offices that help veterans obtain shelter, essential goods, and other support services.
“Women’s History Month serves as a reminder to show support, honoring our women veterans through purchasing one of our women veterans license plates,” said Brig. Gen. (PA) Maureen Weigl, deputy adjutant general for Veterans Affairs. “These plates stand as a gesture of gratitude, exemplifying that Pennsylvanians hold in the highest esteem all that our women veterans have done in defense of our nation.”
PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said the state offers several registration plate options specifically recognizing women veterans.
“We are proud to celebrate the outstanding contributions and sacrifices of women veterans — and all veterans — in our great commonwealth,” Carroll said. “We continue to offer a variety of military registration plates designed with women veterans in mind to demonstrate this support.”
Plate Options Available
PennDOT currently offers four registration plates honoring women veterans.
The “Honoring Our Women Veterans” special fund plate is available for passenger cars or trucks weighing up to 14,000 pounds. The plate costs $42 in addition to the vehicle registration fee, and $15 from each purchase goes to the Veterans’ Trust Fund.
A motorcycle version of the special fund plate is also available. Introduced in December 2024, it costs $43, with $15 supporting the trust fund.
Two additional standard plates are available specifically for women veterans. The Women Veteran plate and the Women Veteran Motorcycle plate each cost $28.
Applicants must submit a completed MV-150V form and provide proof of military service, such as a copy of a DD-214 separation document or a retired military identification card.
Additional Military Plate Programs
PennDOT also offers other military-themed plates, including “Honoring Our Veterans” and a motorcycle version of that plate.
Like the women veterans special fund plates, those programs also direct $15 from each purchase to the Pennsylvania Veterans’ Trust Fund to support assistance programs for veterans across the state.
