LANCASTER, PA — The Shapiro Administration has secured a $19.1 million investment from Kettle & Fire to establish the company’s first manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania, creating 149 new jobs and boosting the local economy.
The 167,000-square-foot facility, named KettleWorks, is located at 425 Ben Franklin Boulevard in Lancaster and features advanced food production systems to expand the company’s product line. Governor Josh Shapiro emphasized that the project is a testament to Pennsylvania’s competitiveness in attracting business.
“When a fast-growing company like Kettle & Fire chooses to build its first manufacturing facility right here in Pennsylvania, it shows that our Commonwealth has what it takes to compete and win in today’s economy,” Shapiro said. “My Administration will continue to secure major investments in our economy, create jobs, and open up the doors of opportunity for more Pennsylvanians.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) supported the project with a $4 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan and a $40,000 WEDnetPA grant aimed at training workers. Kettle & Fire’s CEO, Brian Hack, expressed gratitude for the state’s commitment to fostering growth in manufacturing and agriculture, calling Central Pennsylvania an ideal region for the venture due to its skilled workforce and supply chain advantages.
Kettle & Fire, founded in 2014, leads the bone broth category with products sold in over 22,000 stores nationwide. The new facility aligns with Governor Shapiro’s Economic Development Strategy, which prioritizes key sectors, including agriculture and manufacturing. These industries collectively contribute nearly $250 billion annually to the state’s economy.
DCED Secretary Rick Siger underscored the importance of investing in these sectors to ensure Pennsylvania’s continued prosperity. Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Agriculture, Russell Redding, highlighted how partnerships like these benefit not only manufacturers but also the farms that supply them.
“We are excited to have a growing category leader like Kettle & Fire join other industry leaders such as WK Kellogg Co. and Mars Wrigley here in Lancaster County,” added John Biemiller, Vice President of Business Retention & Expansion at EDC Lancaster County. “The area offers access to large consumer markets and ingredients that align with Kettle & Fire’s high standards.”
The facility’s opening signifies a major boost to Lancaster County’s economy, solidifying its role as a hub for innovation in manufacturing and agriculture.
