HARRISBURG, PA — The Republican Party of Pennsylvania has formally endorsed Jason Richey for lieutenant governor, throwing the party’s institutional support behind the Allegheny County Republican chairman as the 2026 election cycle accelerates.

The endorsement was approved during the party’s 2026 State Committee Winter Meeting, where elected Republican committee members from across the Commonwealth gathered for training, internal discussions, and strategic planning ahead of what party leaders described as a pivotal midterm election year.

Richey, a Pittsburgh-based attorney and longtime party leader, currently serves as chairman of the Republican Committee of Allegheny County, the largest Republican county organization in Pennsylvania. He brings decades of private-sector experience to the race, having spent nearly 30 years as a partner at international law firm K&L Gates LLP.

According to party officials, Richey’s professional background includes representing clients across 35 states and in markets spanning Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and South America. Republicans backing his candidacy cited that experience as evidence of his familiarity with economic development, regulatory issues, and global competitiveness.

Richey lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and children and continues to practice law while campaigning statewide. In announcing the endorsement, party leaders pointed to his focus on economic opportunity, responsible government, and community engagement as central themes of his bid for statewide office.

The Republican Party’s early endorsement signals an effort to unify behind a candidate with deep organizational ties and a long record of party leadership as the campaign season intensifies.
