ELVERSON, PA — The Shapiro Administration announced Tuesday that Pennsylvania will introduce its first-ever glamping accommodations across eight state parks beginning in spring 2026, expanding overnight options for visitors seeking comfort and convenience in the outdoors.
The initiative, led by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) in partnership with Timberline Glamping Company, will add 61 new sites statewide — the most Timberline locations of any state in the country. The new accommodations combine traditional camping experiences with modern amenities such as real beds, climate control, and electricity.
“This new offering is another way we’re ensuring that our state parks remain welcoming and enjoyable for all Pennsylvanians,” said DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn. “By transforming underused campsites into beautiful glamping experiences, we’re expanding overnight options in a way that’s affordable, sustainable, and beneficial to local communities.”
Each glamping site will feature safari-style tents with heating and air conditioning, lighting, outdoor seating, and décor. Every park will include at least one ADA-accessible tent. Guests can reserve one-night weekday stays or two-night weekend and holiday stays, with optional add-ons like locally sourced products, firewood bundles, and gourmet s’mores kits.
The participating parks are Poe Valley, Hills Creek, Laurel Hill, Pymatuning, Codorus, French Creek, Hickory Run, and Promised Land. French Creek State Park will feature the Northeast’s first all-season glamping loop, open year-round from March through December.
Under the agreement, DCNR will receive a flat rate plus a share of revenue from Timberline’s operations, generating new funding for park improvements. The partnership aligns with DCNR’s Penn’s Parks for All strategic plan, which calls for innovative approaches to meet changing recreation preferences.
“Pennsylvania has always been where families come to connect with nature and each other around campfires and under the stars,” said Anne Ryan, Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Tourism Office. “Now, with glamping, we’re expanding that tradition to welcome travelers who want the magic of the outdoors with modern comfort and convenience.”
The launch supports DCNR’s “Still Open. Still Awesome.” campaign, which highlights Pennsylvania’s accessible and affordable outdoor recreation options. With 124 state parks, 2.2 million acres of forest land, and more than 14,000 miles of trails, the Commonwealth remains one of the nation’s premier four-season outdoor destinations.
