HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that all driver license and photo centers statewide, including its full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Thursday in observance of the Christmas holiday.

The closure applies to every PennDOT driver license and photo license center across the Commonwealth. Normal operations are scheduled to resume following the holiday.

PennDOT officials emphasized that a wide range of driver and vehicle services will remain available online during the closure. Through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, customers can access services around the clock, seven days a week, without additional fees.

Available online services include driver’s license, photo ID, and vehicle registration renewals; driver history records; address changes; restoration letters; payment of driver license or vehicle insurance restoration fees; replacement licenses and photo IDs; REAL ID pre-verification; and scheduling for driver exams.

PennDOT also advised residents planning in-person visits later in the holiday season to check operating hours in advance, particularly for Online Messenger Service Centers, which may observe modified schedules.

Motorists planning domestic air travel are reminded that a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or ID card, or another federally accepted form of identification such as a passport, is now required to board domestic flights. PennDOT officials recommend visiting pa.gov/REALID to determine whether a REAL ID is the right option and to review application requirements.
