HARRISBURG, PA — Customers using vehicles through two Easton-based car subscription companies are being urged by Pennsylvania’s attorney general to verify ownership and contact state officials following the owner’s bankruptcy filing.

What This Means for You

  • You may not legally own the vehicle you are driving
  • Your payments, insurance, and registration status could be affected
  • State officials are collecting complaints and offering guidance

Attorney General Dave Sunday said his office is reviewing numerous consumer complaints involving Your Cause Auto Inc. and Your Cause Auto Services LLC, which offered vehicle subscription programs.

A vehicle subscription program typically allows customers to pay a recurring fee to use a vehicle instead of purchasing or leasing it outright, often bundling costs like maintenance and insurance.

Bankruptcy Raises Ownership Questions

According to the Attorney General’s Office, former owner Shawn Pail recently filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Chapter 7 bankruptcy is a legal process in which a business or individual liquidates assets to pay off debts, which can complicate who legally owns property such as vehicles.

Officials said the bankruptcy could affect ownership of vehicles currently being used by customers in the subscription program.

“Our office is committed to protecting consumers who may have been harmed by a recent bankruptcy action,” Sunday said. “All customers of Your Cause Auto should take steps to ensure who is the owner of the vehicle they are driving, and what solutions could fit their situation.”

Where Customers Are Affected

The Bureau of Consumer Protection said most impacted customers are believed to be in Lehigh and Northampton counties, including Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton.

Some customers may have also interacted with a business partner identified as Michael Solomon, according to the release.

What Customers Should Do Next

State officials are advising anyone currently in possession of a vehicle through the companies to confirm ownership status and understand how the bankruptcy may affect payments, insurance coverage and required inspections.

Consumers who had dealings with the companies — including Your Cause Auto Inc., Your Cause Auto Services LLC, Shawn Pail or Michael Solomon — can file a complaint online at https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/consumer-complaint/ or contact the Bureau of Consumer Protection at 1-888-441-2555.

The Attorney General’s Office said it is continuing to review complaints as part of its consumer protection efforts.
