HARRISBURG, PA — More than 315,000 people have used Pennsylvania’s PA CareKit since its launch last year, a digital resource designed to support the state’s nearly 2.4 million unpaid caregivers with training, guidance, and connections to services.

What This Means for You

  • Pennsylvania caregivers can access tools, training, and respite resources through the PA CareKit.
  • More than 315,000 people have already used the program since May 2025.
  • Caregivers can attend upcoming in-person events to learn how to access services.

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging said the PA CareKit was created to help family caregivers manage the challenges of providing care for relatives, including aging parents, spouses, or grandchildren.

Family caregivers often provide assistance with daily activities, medical needs, or supervision without receiving payment.

Support Tools for Caregivers

The online platform includes training materials, guidance on caregiving responsibilities, and tools designed to help caregivers understand and manage their needs.

One feature, called the Caregiver Quiz, helps users identify their caregiving situation and receive customized recommendations for services and support programs.

Since the program launched in May 2025, nearly 10,000 Pennsylvanians have completed the quiz to receive personalized assistance through the system.

“We are proud that thousands of Pennsylvanians have found support in the PA CareKit,” said Pennsylvania Secretary of Aging Jason Kavulich. “The PA CareKit is here to help make the caregiving process easier for the person providing care while making sure they are looking after their own well-being.”

Outreach and Community Events

The Department of Aging said it has promoted the PA CareKit through advertising campaigns and outreach events across the Commonwealth.

Officials also plan several in-person sessions where caregivers can learn more about available services and support resources.

Upcoming sessions include:

  • Thursday, March 19, 10:00 AM — Martin Library, 159 E. Market St., York
  • Tuesday, March 24, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM — Misericordia University, Insalaco Hall, Room 219, Dallas
  • Wednesday, April 1, 10:00 AM — Lawrence County Area Agency on Aging, New Castle
  • Tuesday, April 7, 1:00 PM — East Shore Area Library, Harrisburg

Part of State Aging Strategy

The PA CareKit is one component of Aging Our Way, PA, a 10-year strategic plan launched by Gov. Josh Shapiro to improve services and infrastructure supporting older adults in Pennsylvania.

The plan focuses on strengthening resources that allow residents to age safely and independently.

Pennsylvania was also designated an Age-Friendly State by AARP in May 2025, part of a broader effort to improve services and accessibility for older residents.

Officials said the governor’s proposed 2026-27 budget includes a $3 million investment to continue implementing the aging strategy.
