HARRISBURG, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that all driver license and photo centers — including the agency’s full-service location in Harrisburg — will be closed on November 27 and November 28, 2025, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

While in-person services will pause for the two-day closure, PennDOT emphasized that customers can still access a wide range of driver and vehicle services online throughout the holiday weekend. The agency’s Driver and Vehicle Services website remains available 24 hours a day, offering renewals, replacements, records, address updates, and REAL ID pre-verification without additional transaction fees.

Online services include driver’s license and photo ID renewals, vehicle registration renewals, driver-history reports, restoration letters, duplicate license and ID requests, insurance-related restoration fee payments, and driver exam scheduling. PennDOT noted that all forms and training manuals are also accessible at any time.

The agency encouraged residents planning to visit an Online Messenger Service Center during the holiday period to call ahead, as hours of operation may vary. A full schedule of PennDOT center closures for 2025 is available on the department’s website.

PennDOT also reminded travelers preparing for upcoming flights that a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or identification card — or another Transportation Security Administration–approved form of identification, such as a passport — is now required for domestic air travel. Residents unsure whether REAL ID is right for them can evaluate their options using the department’s online REAL ID wizard at pa.gov/REALID.
