HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity is urging residents to search for unclaimed property, highlighting that more than $46 million is currently owed to individuals, businesses, and organizations with spring-related names.
The Treasury identified unclaimed funds tied to names including Rose, Tulip, Daisy, Iris, Bloom, Garden, April, May, Rain, and Sun, as part of a seasonal outreach effort to encourage claims.
“With the first day of spring upon us, now is a perfect time to claim what’s rightfully yours,” Garrity said. “I encourage everyone to take a moment to search our database to see if they have money waiting for them.”
The Pennsylvania Treasury receives hundreds of millions of dollars in unclaimed property each year, often due to clerical errors such as misspelled names or outdated addresses.
Since taking office in 2021, Garrity said the treasury has returned more than $1 billion in unclaimed property, with more than $5 billion still held for rightful owners.
The average claim exceeds $1,000, according to the treasury.
Unclaimed property includes both intangible and tangible assets, such as dormant bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks, savings bonds, jewelry, and collectible coins.
Residents can search for and file claims through the treasury’s online database at https://patreasury.gov/unclaimed-property, which the state said is free to use.
