HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania residents will have free access to 2026 FIFA World Cup watch parties across the state after officials announced three public fan zones in Reading, Scranton, and Pittsburgh.

What This Means for You

  • Free public events will be held across Pennsylvania during the World Cup
  • Large-screen match viewings, entertainment, and activities will be available
  • Officials expect significant tourism and economic impact statewide

Governor Josh Shapiro announced Thursday that the Commonwealth will host three no-cost fan zones to expand access to the tournament beyond Philadelphia, which is serving as an official host city.

How The Fan Zones Will Work

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled from June 11 through July 19, will include six matches in Philadelphia, including a Round of 16 game on July 4.

To extend access statewide, the fan zones will offer large-screen broadcasts of select matches along with live entertainment, interactive soccer activities, and food and beverage options.

“I believe sports have a real ability to break down barriers and these fan zones will bring the action directly to fans across the Commonwealth,” Shapiro said, adding that the events are expected to support local communities and economic activity.

Where And When Events Will Happen

Each host city will offer multiple viewing opportunities tied to key match dates:

  • Reading: Events at Santander Arena on July 3, July 4, July 18, and July 19, with a block party on Penn Street
  • Scranton: Open-air viewing at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square on July 4, July 5, July 6, July 18, and July 19
  • Pittsburgh: On-field viewing at Acrisure Stadium on July 4, July 5, July 9, and July 19, alongside festival activities and concerts

Officials said the events are designed to create regional access points so residents across Pennsylvania can participate in the tournament experience.

Economic Impact And State Investment

Organizers project Philadelphia’s role as a host city will draw approximately 500,000 visitors, generate more than $700 million in economic impact, and create over 6,600 jobs statewide.

The state is supporting the effort with funding for operations and planning, including $2 million dedicated to fan zones across the Commonwealth, alongside additional contributions from local governments and private partners.

Philadelphia was selected as one of 11 U.S. host cities in 2022, and the 2026 tournament will be the largest in FIFA history, featuring 48 teams, 16 host cities, and 104 matches.

Broader Tourism Push

State officials said the World Cup is part of a larger strategy to position Pennsylvania as a major destination in 2026, alongside events such as the NFL Draft, PGA Championship, and MLB All-Star Game.
