HARRISBURG, PA — A multi-agency investigation spanning Armstrong and Allegheny counties has led to federal charges against an Allegheny County man accused of trafficking large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine while illegally possessing firearms.
Attorney General Dave Sunday and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration announced that Glenn Thomas Jr., 36, was arrested this week following the execution of search warrants at his apartment and an alleged stash house. Authorities said the searches uncovered significant quantities of illegal drugs, two handguns—one of which was reported stolen—and cash tied to suspected drug activity.
Investigators allege that Thomas was involved in distributing fentanyl, crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and cocaine, using a separate location to store narcotics. As a result of the searches, agents seized approximately 1,200 grams of cocaine, 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 46 grams of fentanyl, and 60 grams of crack cocaine. Law enforcement officials estimated the combined street value of the drugs at roughly $180,000. About $5,000 in cash was also recovered.
Sunday said the case highlights the impact of coordinated enforcement efforts, stating that the operation removed both drugs and firearms from circulation. DEA Special Agent in Charge Thomas Hodnett said distributors of fentanyl and other narcotics pose a direct threat to public safety and that joint investigations remain a priority for federal and state authorities.
Robinson Township Police Chief Timothy Westwood said the arrest followed a months-long investigation and credited the collaboration between local, county, state, and federal agencies for dismantling what police allege was a significant narcotics operation in the region.
Thomas is charged with federal drug trafficking and firearms offenses and is expected to be prosecuted in federal court. He is currently being held on a detainer at the Allegheny County Jail.
The investigation involved the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the DEA, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team, and police departments from Robinson Township, North Fayette, Scott Township, Ross Township, McKees Rocks, and Adams Township.
All criminal charges are allegations. Thomas is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
