WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced more than $818 million in grants to 235 organizations nationwide to support Veterans who are homeless or at risk of losing their housing.
The funding, distributed through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program, will provide case management and resources throughout fiscal year 2026. Local organizations will use the grants to help Veterans secure housing, access health care, receive financial planning assistance, and obtain services such as childcare, legal support, and transportation.
“Supportive services like childcare, housing counseling and financial planning can be important catalysts for preventing or resolving homelessness,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “These grants will help bring crucial support to thousands of Veterans in need across the nation.”
The VA said awards were determined based on factors such as recipient organizations’ experience, past performance, and the level of need in their communities. The program is designed to prevent the imminent loss of housing, identify new and more stable living arrangements, and rapidly re-house Veterans and families who might otherwise remain homeless.
