USPS Honors Veterans, Closes Post Offices Nationwide for Nov. 11 Holiday

U.S. Postal Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Postal Service will close all Post Office locations nationwide on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day, pausing regular mail delivery and retail operations for the federal holiday.

Only Priority Mail Express will be delivered that day, with normal services resuming on Wednesday, Nov. 12, the agency confirmed.

“On this important day we honor the military veterans who have served our nation,” said Postmaster General and CEO David Steiner. “The Postal Service is proud to be one of the largest civilian employers of America’s veterans. Their dedication, discipline and commitment to service enrich our organization and strengthen our connection to the communities we serve.”

While retail counters will be closed, customers can still access many services through more than 2,600 self-service kiosks available in select Post Office lobbies across the country. The kiosks allow customers to print postage for Priority Mail and international shipping, purchase stamps, weigh and mail packages, and track shipments — many operating around the clock.

As part of USPS’s ongoing modernization effort, additional self-service options are expanding nationwide, including Rapid Dropoff Stations for prepaid packages, smart lockers for 24/7 drop-off and pickup, and QR-code label printing for online shoppers.

Veterans Day, a federal holiday observed annually on Nov. 11, honors all U.S. military veterans who have served the nation in war and peace.
