WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announced it will release a new set of commemorative Forever stamps celebrating the beloved Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants with a special first-day-of-issue event in New York City’s Times Square on August 1.

The public is invited to attend the free event at Father Duffy Square from 8 to 10 a.m. EDT, where the stamps will also be available for purchase. Greg Breeding, the USPS art director who designed the stamps using artwork from Nickelodeon, will be on site to sign autographs.

The new collection features four colorful designs: two stamps spotlighting SpongeBob’s iconic grinning face, one showcasing the show’s popular characters — including Sandy Cheeks, Patrick Star, Plankton, Mr. Krabs, Gary, and Squidward — and another depicting SpongeBob and Patrick playfully enjoying the ocean floor.

Created by Stephen Hillenburg, SpongeBob SquarePants has entertained audiences worldwide for over two decades with its distinctive humor and enduring characters. The stamps, issued as Forever stamps, will always hold the value of a First-Class Mail one-ounce rate.

Fans are encouraged to share their excitement using the hashtag #SpongeBobSquarePantsStamps.
