WASHINGTON, D.C. — NextGen America has partnered with Ballot Builder, a nonpartisan voter guide resource, to help young voters better understand candidates’ policy positions and prepare for state and local elections. The collaboration is designed to increase civic participation on college campuses by enabling students to create personalized ballots ahead of Election Day.
The digital ballot tool provides fact-based information on candidates’ stances across key issues such as the economy, healthcare, and the environment. By entering their address, students can view races at the state and local levels, explore their options, and save a customized ballot for reference. The platform also delivers election reminders and voting details to encourage turnout.
“NextGen is proud to partner with Ballot Builder to create a helpful resource for young voters nationwide,” said Victoria Yang, interim president of NextGen America. “This tool educates young people on the impact of state and local elected officials in their communities, and empowers them to show up for issues they care about.”
Walter Ley, founder and CEO of Branch Politics, which created Ballot Builder, said the guide aims to address voter disengagement. “Many Americans, especially young people, can feel overwhelmed by politics and worry their personal actions can’t change anything,” Ley said. “This guide highlights the state and local races to show young people how their voices and votes carry real weight.”
The initiative comes amid rising concerns about electoral disinformation and declining youth engagement. NextGen America said it will continue to expand outreach ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, emphasizing education, issue engagement, and turnout among young voters.
