WASHINGTON, D.C. — Taxpayers will have additional opportunities to get in-person help from the Internal Revenue Service later this month, with special Saturday office hours scheduled nationwide.
What This Means for You
- IRS offices will be open Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in many locations
- In-person help is available for most tax services, but cash payments are not accepted
- Additional weekday extended hours remain in place through April 30
The IRS announced that select Taxpayer Assistance Centers, or TACs—local IRS offices where people can get face-to-face help with tax issues—will open on Saturday, April 25, as part of an effort to support taxpayers during the filing season.
Offices in dozens of states, along with the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, will participate. The IRS plans to continue offering these Saturday hours through June.
Services Available
During the expanded hours, taxpayers can receive help with most standard services typically offered at TACs, including assistance with account questions, payment options, and resolving tax issues.
However, the IRS noted that cash payments will not be accepted at these locations.
Taxpayers are encouraged to check participating locations and available services before visiting by going to IRS.gov/SaturdayHours.
Extended Weekday Hours Continue
In addition to the Saturday openings, more than 200 IRS offices nationwide are currently offering extended weekday hours to handle increased demand during tax season.
Those extended hours will remain in place through Thursday, April 30.
Taxpayers can find nearby offices and confirm hours using the “Contact Your Local Office” tool on IRS.gov, which includes a locator, service details, and directions.
