WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins has announced the inaugural Great American Farmers Market, a six-day national event to be held on the National Mall from August 3 through August 8. Timed to coincide with National Farmers Market Week and the lead-up to America’s 250th anniversary, the showcase will spotlight agricultural producers from across the country with daily themed programming and more than 50 vendors representing 28 states.
“This historic farmers market will give visitors to our nation’s capital opportunities to learn, shop, snack, and explore,” said Secretary Rollins. She emphasized the market’s role in honoring the resilience and contribution of American farmers, while highlighting policies under the Trump administration aimed at supporting agriculture through tax relief, safety net expansion, and legislative reforms.
The event kicks off Sunday, August 3 at 4:00 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and live music. Over the following days, visitors can expect a diverse marketplace featuring fresh produce, meats, dairy, baked goods, and ready-to-eat fare. In addition to shopping, the market will host daily programming to reflect America’s farming roots, civic values, and health initiatives:
- Sunday, August 3 – “America Grows”: Celebrating 250 years of agricultural liberty, including kid-friendly tractor displays and patriotic tributes.
- Monday, August 4 – MAHA Monday: Health and nutrition take center stage with cooking demos by Secretaries Rollins and Kennedy and sunset goat yoga.
- Tuesday, August 5 – Faith and Fellowship: A spiritual celebration of agriculture’s connection to faith, featuring performances and remarks by Dr. Alveda King.
- Wednesday, August 6 – Forests and Firefighters: Wildfire prevention education with appearances by Smokey Bear and fire safety experts.
- Thursday, August 7 – America the Beautiful: Garden tours, seed planting for children, and an educational visit from a George Washington reenactor.
- Friday, August 8 – Farmer First Friday: Closing tributes to farmers, face painting, and a family movie night screening of Charlotte’s Web.
The Department of Agriculture’s initiative is part of broader efforts to reconnect the public with food sources and the individuals behind them. The Great American Farmers Market aims to be both an educational platform and a celebration of American farming traditions.
