WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a move underscoring the importance of domestic production, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson has officially declared July 2025 as “Made in the USA” Month.

The announcement, timed to coincide with Independence Day celebrations, aims to highlight the value of American-made goods and reinforce consumer trust. Ferguson emphasized that the FTC remains committed to enforcing laws against deceptive claims regarding U.S. origin labeling, protecting both consumers and legitimate domestic manufacturers.

Recent polling data cited by Ferguson shows that 61% of Americans consider a product’s U.S. origin as a significant factor in their purchasing decisions. Many consumers associate American-made items with higher quality, environmental benefits, and stronger support for local jobs and communities.

While numerous products could legitimately carry a “Made in the USA” label, many companies fail to meet the requirements or misrepresent their products. To address this, the FTC has released updated guidance to help businesses accurately market domestically produced goods and encourage compliance.

Ferguson described the label as more than a marketing slogan, calling it a symbol of national pride, craftsmanship, and economic resilience. As Americans celebrate independence this month, he urged consumers to consider the impact of their purchasing choices in supporting the nation’s workers and manufacturing sector.

The FTC’s initiative seeks to strengthen confidence in domestic products and ensure that “Made in the USA” remains a trusted mark of quality and integrity.
