CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — The Mill at Anselma Preservation and Educational Trust will host a special lecture on Saturday, September 6, exploring the historic site’s enduring technology.
The program, titled “Mill Technology,” is scheduled from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the visitor center, located at 1730 Conestoga Road in Chester Springs. It will be led by miller Dave Rollenhagen, who will explain the engineering innovations that have kept the Mill at Anselma operating since its construction in 1747.
Recognized as the most complete surviving example of a custom grain mill in the United States, the site still functions with its original powertrain. The lecture will provide insight into the mechanics of 18th-century flour milling and how the system has endured for nearly 300 years.
“This program gives our visitors a unique chance to appreciate 18th-century flour milling technology,” Rollenhagen said. “It’s more than history; it’s a living example of how innovation and initiative combined to endure.”
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
